Ireland’s Sculptors – RIP Jeanne Rynhart

Ireland’s sculptors –

Was very saddened to hear about the passing of one of Ireland’s great sculptors – Jeanne Rynhart. Jeanne’s most famous works were probably the Molly Malone statue in Dublin and those of Annie Moore and her brothers in Cobh – amongst many others. As it happens, Jeanne often had her work cast here in Kilbaha – where my father and brother were successfully bronze casting for many artists at the time, including Jeanne.  The statue of Annie Moore and her brothers in Cobh and their accompanying statues in Ellis island New York were sculpted by Jeanne – and ultimately cast here in Kilbaha by my father Jim and my brother Seamus – both wonderful sculptors themselves. They both held Jeanne in high regard indeed.

Jeanne Rynhart has made an indelible mark on the Irish artistic landscape and will be forever remembered as such. May she Rest in Peace.
