‘The Rock’, on the left of the painting, is a narrow strip of concrete that stretches out into the water, famous for providing easy access for swimmers across the stony beach and into the sea (the Shannon Estuary). This celebrated West Clare artist, signing their work only as ‘D’, has captured this well known landmark here with expert precision and wonderful detail. Depicting here, a beautiful summers afternoon; the beautiful blue skies, the gentle sunny reflections of the calm water, the artist really captures the moment wonderfully.  This gorgeous aspect across the Shannon, with Scattery Island in the background, almost lures you in to the very painting itself.
