Kim Thittichai, the author of four books on experimental textile techniques, has now settled on Loop Head and is a neighbour and friend of the gallery – as well as one of our resident artists and for us, a constant source of inspiration and positivity. Being fascinated by the ever-changing colour combinations that surround her here on Loop Head, these new one-off pieces of hers, portray what she is inspired by around the Fodra and Ross area of Loop Head.

Storm over Fodera is a depiction, in creative layering, of the colours and atmosphere that merge, when a storm brews overhead in her home on Loop Head. Kim’s new work is a culmination of everything she has taught and developed over the past 30 years teaching from the UK to Australia and New Zealand.  She has developed a new, many layered, heat process using recycled local newspapers, acrylic paint and fusible web. The work is protected with several layers of acrylic wax.
