Donnacha Cahill, really can do no wrong. Prepare to be totally and utterly transfixed.
This piece, ‘Scuba diving Hare’, which is part of an edition of wonderfully whimsical hare sculptures (some in steel, some in bronze) in somewhat unusual situations, by sculptor, Donnacha Cahill, is an adorable, quirky and fun piece of art (captured so beautifully here in our photoshoot). This sculpture – at approx 32″ high including its base – is truly fun; immediately making you smile – and like all of Donnacha’s pieces, it perfectly hits that sweet spot where professional art and fun combine.
Although clearly very playful, all of Donnacha’s work is strong and impactful, in both form and in colour. Donnacha’s pieces aim to spark the imagination and create conversation and ‘Scuba-Diving Hare’ certainly does that! With his ever so slightly precarious looking stance and his fun diving equipment, you just want to follow him into an underwater world of adventure and guests to your home will fall immediately in love with him.
This would be a superb talking piece to have indoors in your contemporary home; looking to the outside world, perhaps dreaming of his next dive!
Being placed outside is also possible but bearing in mind that this sculpture is welded steel.
Donnacha’s work sells here at home and also internationally – he has exhibited in places such as Galway’s Volvo Ocean Race and Electric Picnic and is fast becoming a must-have in terms of collectability.
Extremely collectable artwork – Irish contemporary artist – welded steel – Scuba Diving Hare – patinated dark in an almost gun mental grey colour.
