This painting has truly, madly, deeply, captured our hearts here!

A recent trip to the Co. Clare Village of Kilbaha, inspired the contemporary artist Kaye Maahs to create this striking oil painting of what is a very special view.

A nod to the the area’s ‘Land Agent’ past, of the 1800’s, this stone turret, built dauntingly close to the cliff edge, has always been known locally as ‘The Reading Room’.  At the time, this extraordinary reading room was only a short walk from what was, the land agents house. The ladies of the house would send the menfolk there after tea, where it was said that they ‘smoked and chatted’ more than they read!  What remained of the ‘big house’ was burned down in the 1920’s, however, the turret remains and is one of the first things you see as you turn the bend into the village.

This is a beautifully handled, original work, in oils by the supremely collectable Maahs.

Kaye is an award winning artist, whose work has been repeatedly accepted into the RHA Annual Exhibitions. She has painted and exhibited internationally as well as at home and has pieces hanging in private collections around the world.
