In this painting, Ruth aims to capture the array of visual experiences from the third Pollock hole. The contrast of the wild open sea with the serene calmness of the pool, framed by the monumental Georges head, all of which was, according to the artist herself, a wonderful creative challenge.

This is an exclusive collection of drawings that Ruth Wood has created especially for the discerning art buyers and collectors of Kilbaha Gallery. These beautiful drawings are original works (no prints of the same) and thus are highly collectable. Ruth is one Ireland’s most talented and recognisable contemporary Pen & Ink artists. Her work is highly sought after.

Ruth says of this series:
“In this series of paintings, I explore the west Clare landmarks of Georges Head, the Pollock holes, the west End and the Pier of Kilkee. With the second lockdown, my Creative Facilitation work came to an abrupt end. Luckily, as a painter I have the pleasure of living in a geographical locality that is the gift that keeps on giving.

Like many people, I swim most days during the summer months. This year I enjoyed exploring the third Pollock hole, one of the three natural tidal swimming pools in this area. Snorkelling here, in the bright sunshine is one of my most pleasant memories of summer 2020. I aim to capture that experience in the paintings here.

I added the underwater view to capture the experience of sea emersion; the way shafts of sunlight illuminate this marine secret garden is a mood-altering visual treat to Pollock hole dippers, swimmers and divers.

The movement of the shadows on Georges head becomes a visual challenge to illustrate with pen and colour. My most recent work explores how the weather, the season and even the time of day effects the look of buildings and rock formations in this part of the Wild Atlantic Way” – Ruth Wood.

 Your Shipping Choices Explained

NOTE: Due to Covid 19 areas are experiencing delays and some restrictions on deliveries – please enquire directly with us if you are concerned.

We generally use the postal service here in Ireland, called An Post. It is very reliable and we take the utmost care in packing all our pieces professionally to ensure that have the very best chance of arriving safely in their destination.  This option would be at your own risk.

We can also offer you our own cargo insurance at a reasonable price – weight and piece dependent. Please enquire with us for this option. (This will also be packed by us and carried by An Post as above)

Taking into account the delicate nature and cost of your purchase, if you would prefer it travel in a specialized and insured Art Box with an outside Art Handler, then this can be arranged.  For paintings up to and including the size 120cm x 100 cm – prices with an insured professional courier, range from €75 – all the way up to €475 (size and location dependent) NOTE: This option will take considerably longer as we will have to outsource it and get quotes for you before we proceed.

For paintings or items falling outside of those largest dimensions then a further discussion is required – as it may need to have a bespoke crate to be built for it and a further cost will apply.
