Donnacha Cahill really can do no wrong. Prepare to be totally and utterly transfixed.

This piece, ‘Hareborne’, is a perfect example for the sublimely whimsical and ridiculously cute artworks being created by sculptor Donnacha Cahill. Part of an edition of hare sculptures (some in steel, some in bronze) in somewhat unusual situations, the hang glidling hare is an adorable, quirky and fun piece of art (captured so beautifully here in our photoshoot) – ready to take off and be airborne on his flying adventure.

This sculpture –  at approx 30″ high including its base – makes such a powerful impact (not to mention the nearly 40″ wide steel wingspan on his glider!) and again he just immediately makes you smile; perfectly hitting that sweet spot where professional art and fun combine.

Although clearly playful in subject matter, the piece is however, like all of Donnacha’s pieces, strong and impactful, in its form, materials and colour.  His pieces aim to spark the imagination and create conversation and ‘Paragliding Hare’ certainly does that!

This would be a superb talking piece to have indoors; looking to the fields and world beyond the confines of the sitting room window!  Being placed outside is also possible but bearing in mind that this sculpture is welded steel.

Donnacha’s work sells here at home and also internationally – he has exhibited in places such as Galway’s Volvo Ocean Race and Electric Picnic and is fast becoming a must-have in terms of collectability.

Extremely collectable artwork – Irish contemporary artist – welded steel – Scuba Diving Hare – patinated in a dark steel (gun metal grey)
