Best known for his atmospheric landscapes, his incredible colour palettes, his rusty roofs and his curious, island sheep, it is interesting that even when he produces something quite different, such as his stylised people seen here, it is always still instantly recognisable as a McCaul painting. There is something masterful about the way he puts colours together and like all of his paintings, they jump off the wall with vibrancy. This one, called ‘Our Home’ is quite self explanatory in terms of subject matter; but the colours and abstract nature of it are truly striking.
