This is so striking. Kim Thittichai, artist and author of four books on experimental textile techniques, has now settled on Loop Head and is a neighbour and friend of the gallery as well as one of our resident artists.  Being fascinated by the ever-changing colour combinations that surround her here on Loop Head, these new one-off pieces of hers, portray her depictions of those many and varied moments and things in nature that inspire her.  This piece, entitled Last Light II, is inspired by one of the spectacular Loop Head sunsets that she loves to watch and appreciates so much. Such a calming and very lovely melding of colours.

Kim’s new work is a culmination of everything she has taught and developed over the past 30 years teaching from the UK to Australia and New Zealand.  She has developed a new, many layered, heat process using recycled local newspapers, acrylic paint and fusible web. The work is protected with several layers of acrylic wax.

Your Shipping Choices Explained

NOTE: Due to Covid 19 areas are experiencing delays and some restrictions on deliveries – please enquire directly with us if you are concerned.

We generally use the postal service here in Ireland, called An Post. It is very reliable and we take the utmost care in packing all our pieces professionally to ensure that have the very best chance of arriving safely in their destination.  This option would be at your own risk.

We can also offer you our own cargo insurance at a reasonable price – weight and piece dependent. Please enquire with us for this option. (This will also be packed by us and carried by An Post as above)

Taking into account the delicate nature and cost of your purchase, if you would prefer it travel in a specialized and insured Art Box with an outside Art Handler, then this can be arranged.  For paintings up to and including the size 120cm x 100 cm – prices with an insured professional courier, range from €75 – all the way up to €475 (size and location dependent) NOTE: This option will take considerably longer as we will have to outsource it and get quotes for you before we proceed.

For paintings or items falling outside of those largest dimensions then a further discussion is required – as it may need to have a bespoke crate to be built for it and a further cost will apply.
