The most incredible grey day – the kind of day when the mist from the sky and the mist from the sea all meld into one beautiful, atmospheric, delicate veil of haziness across the horizon. Although to many, this kind of day hampers any kind of enjoyment, but to us it epitomises a beautifully calm but cloudy evening in the West and sums up living so close to the River Shannon. Here Maahs’ brush strokes manage to define both sea and sky even though its clearly one of those days when the two have become one. The ferry crossing from Kilimer to Tarbert is a regular and familiar sight on the river.
