65cm x 65cm including Frame – Oil and Cold Wax – Original artwork
There is something truly beautiful about a misty day in an Irish bog; still summertime, the long evenings, the weather behaving in a typically Irish fashion; clammy and warm but with a heavy mist. There is a gorgeous nostalgic feel to this kind of painting as it brings you right back; back to the smells, the different sounds and even the sensations of the long willowy heathers and grasses, heavy and wet from the mist, rubbing against your knees.
‘Braonach’ means misty in Gaelic and is a perfect depiction of such a moment in time – an original piece of art, created using oil and cold wax by the artist Gillian Murphy – whose blending of color and direct association in time is superb.
