Can’t you just feel the warm, early summer sunshine, pouring down on this beautiful Hawthorn Tree?  With a simply gorgeous touch, a penchant for rustic, but vivid, colour palettes, and a keen interest in nature’s ever changing light, artist Mary Roberts brings so much feeling and emotion to her paintings.

This painting, called ‘A Chance Encounter’, was very much that, for Mary, as she happened upon this tree, on a trip through her native North Clare.  The beauty of the hawthorn in that moment stopped her in her tracks.

Tree’s, how they stand so proud against the elements and how they interact with nature, the changing seasons and the changing lights, have always fascinated Mary and have inspired many tree studies over the years.
