This particular original charcoal drawing / artwork is a departure from the oil paintings we know and love from artist Aideen Monaghan – but is such an exciting style of work. Because this large scale type of original sketching would look amazing in a bright and contemporary space, there follows a somewhat beautiful contradiction, in a sense, of such a traditional rural scene having such an almost urban (or least uber-contemporary) appeal. With charcoal not being an easy medium either, the artists talent is even more evident here.  We LOVE the characteristically curious expressions of this herd of sheep and adorably friendly looking faces as they clamour to see what’s going on.
