Kilbaha Village

Kilbaha Village

As you start heading West along the famous Loop Head Peninsula, you will reach the picturesque Kilbaha Village which is the most Westerly village in Clare and the last village on the peninsula.

As you turn the bend on the approach to the village, the glistening expanse of Kilbaha bay opens in front of you. With the historic reading room (a stone turret that clings to the edge of the cliff) to your left, the working pier and slip way alongside this, and Keatings Bar & Restaurant, all coming pleasantly into view.

It’s such a special view.

Kilbaha Village is home to the historically significant ‘Church of the Little Ark’, the beautiful and revered ‘Moneen Graveyard’ and the newly refurbished Community Centre and Heritage Display at ‘Halla Eoin’.

Nearby, you will find the famous geological marvel that is the ‘Bridges of Ross’; a stop that consists of a short but beautiful cliff walk which takes you along the coast and out over the last remaining bridge, (geological fold) which we are told is one of the oldest examples of carboniferous rock of its kind in the world.

You are only moments from the historic Loop Head Lighthouse. The Lighthouse is open to the public (in season) and you can take a tour to the top of the Lighthouse itself. There is a beautiful walk around the headland that truly makes you feel as though you are on the ‘edge of the world’.

Of course, you will also find US here at Kilbaha Gallery either on your way to or from the Lighthouse and you will be guaranteed a warm welcome and a lovely way to pass some time enjoying the work of at least 50 professional Irish artists on display here from painters to sculptors.

We also stock limited edition prints, posters, art cards, soaps, sweatshirts and other lifestyle pieces.
