Not unlike her previous beauty ‘Arrangement in White’, an original oil that sold through the gallery here earlier this year, this painting entitled ‘Shells’ is a beautiful and delicate arrangement of items, with varying degrees of white, from the china pieces to the seashells and the eggshells – all sitting rather proudly on a white tablecloth. An artist that can do white, on white, on white and still make each piece so defined and stand alone, is rather a competent one. Her clever use of light and shade largely helps her to accomplish this and if you look closely enough, the single rose provides a clever dash of green and salmon pink which helps to offset the rest. This would be rather perfect in a public (or private) dining room or seating area.
