The philosopher George Berkeley once asked the famous question, “If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound?”
It might not be heard, but it must be felt – felt, as a natural shift in the world of the flora and fauna surrounding it, living in it, inhabiting the area around it. This gorgeous little original oil on board by Mark Eldred, allows you, the viewer, a beautiful insight into that very scenario. The fallen Birch tree lies quietly amongst the natural world around it; at this stage, perhaps, now becoming a part of the ground itself. With the wild garlic and the bluebells, slowly creeping over the trunk and claiming it as their own. No one can recreate nature in the way Eldred does. He is a master at his craft.

Although sold separately – this painting was created as part of a pair – Fallen Birch, Wild Garlic and Bluebells I can be seen HERE.
